AI Map Generation

Create complete, detailed maps from a single sentence.

How It Works

Describe your map in natural language on the homepage
AI analyzes your prompt, extracts the city/country, and identifies relevant locations
Locations are geocoded using Google Maps and added to your map
Review and refine the results in the map editor

Enter your prompt in the text box
Click "Generate Map"
Wait 10-30 seconds while the AI works
Review your generated map!

Writing Effective Prompts

The quality of your map depends heavily on your prompt. Here's how to write great prompts:

Structure of a Good Prompt

Basic formula:

[Type of places] + [City, Country] + [Optional: specific criteria]

Examples:

✅ Good prompts:

"Best coffee shops in Seattle, Washington"
"Top 10 museums in Paris, France"
"Popular hiking trails in Banff, Canada"
"Coworking spaces in Barcelona, Spain"
"Vegan restaurants in San Francisco, California"

❌ Prompts that need improvement:

"Coffee" → Too vague, no location specified
"Things to do" → No location, no category
"Paris" → No indication of what type of locations

💡 Pro Tip: Always include both the city AND country for best results. Be specific about the type of places you want.

What the AI Generates

For each location, the AI attempts to find:

Name - Official business/place name
Description - Brief overview of the location (generated by AI)
Coordinates - Latitude and longitude for accurate mapping
Category - Automatically categorized based on place type

The AI generates up to 10 locations per map.

Reviewing AI Results

After generation, you'll see:

Map view with all locations marked
Locations list with names and descriptions
Categories automatically created

What to Check

Accuracy: Are all locations relevant to your prompt?
Coordinates: Verify pins are in the right place
Descriptions: Review AI-generated text for accuracy
Completeness: Did you get enough locations?

Editing AI Results

You can immediately:

Edit any location to fix information
Delete irrelevant locations
Add more locations manually or with additional AI prompts
Adjust map boundaries and zoom level
Upload images to locations
Customize categories and colors

Already have a map and want to add more locations? AI can help!

How It Works

Open any existing map in the editor
Use the "Add Locations with AI" feature
Enter a prompt describing what to add (e.g., "add popular cafes nearby")
AI generates additional locations based on:
- Your existing map's location
- Your map's current theme/categories
- The boundaries of your map
Review and add the locations you want

AI Description Generator

Generate descriptions for locations automatically.

How to Use

When editing a location, look for the description field
If the description is empty, you may see a "Generate with AI" button
Click it to generate a description based on:
- Location name and type
- City and country
- Your map's category

⚠️ Note: AI-generated descriptions are a starting point. Always review for accuracy and add your personal touch!

AI Generation Limits

To ensure fair usage and manage costs, AI generation has these limits:

Logged-In Users

50 AI prompts per day
Resets at midnight UTC daily
Tracked in your usage dashboard

Anonymous Users

10 AI prompts total (lifetime)
IP-address based tracking

Each map generation request = 1 prompt
Each "add locations" request = 1 prompt
