Map Actions
This page lists all the actions visitors and map owners can take on Mapiry maps, organized by where you perform them in the interface.
On a Map Page
As a Viewer (Public Maps)
- Like a map - Save the map to your liked maps collection (requires login)
- Unlike a map - Remove the map from your liked maps
- Share map via social media - Post to Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, or Email
- Copy map link - Copy the direct URL to clipboard
- Click location markers - Open popup showing location name, description, and image
- Get directions - Click "Get Directions" in location popup to open Google Maps
- Pan and zoom - Navigate around the map using mouse/touch controls
- Search locations - Find specific locations using the search box
- Filter by category - Toggle category visibility in the locations panel
- View locations list - Browse all locations in the sidebar panel
- View full-screen - Expand map to full-screen mode
As an Owner (Your Own Maps)
All viewer actions, plus:
- Edit map - Enter the map editor to modify the map
- Delete map - Permanently remove the map
- Toggle visibility - Change between Public and Private (Pro only for Private)
- Generate access token - Create temporary 24-hour access links for private maps (Pro only)
- Revoke access tokens - Remove access for previously generated tokens
- View analytics - See total views, shares by platform, likes, and trends
- Get embed code - Access the iframe code to embed the map on websites
- Change custom slug - Update the readable URL for the map
In the Map Editor
Available only to map owners:
Adding Locations
- Add location via search - Use Google Places to find and add locations
- Add location by clicking - Click anywhere on the map to place a marker
- Import from CSV - Bulk import locations from spreadsheet
- Import from KML/KMZ - Import locations from Google My Maps
- Use AI to generate map - Describe desired map for AI to create (costs 25 credits)
- Use AI to add locations - Ask AI to add more locations (costs 15 credits)
Managing Locations
- Edit location details - Update name, description, category, coordinates
- Add location image - Upload image via Cloudinary or provide URL
- Hide/unhide location - Toggle location visibility without deleting
- Delete location - Permanently remove a location
- Drag marker - Reposition location by dragging the marker
- Reorder locations - Change the order locations appear in the sidebar
Categories & Styling
- Create category - Add a new category with name and color
- Edit category - Change category name or color
- Delete category - Remove a category (locations become uncategorized)
- Change base map style - Choose from 5 Mapbox styles
In the Share Dialog
Available to map owners:
- Toggle public/private - Change map visibility settings
- Copy direct link - Get the map URL to share
- Share to platforms - Post directly to social media
- Generate embed code - Get iframe code for websites
- Generate access tokens - Create temporary access links for private maps (Pro only)
In Explore & Profiles
Available to all users:
In Explore
- Search maps - Find maps by keyword
- Filter by country - Show maps from specific countries
- Sort by popularity/recency - Order results by views or date
- View map details - Click to open any public map
- Navigate pagination - Browse through multiple pages of results
In User Profiles
- View user profiles - See other users' public information
- View public maps - Browse maps created by a user
- Like/unlike maps - Save maps to your collection from profiles
In Embedded Maps
Available to website visitors viewing embedded maps:
- View all locations - See markers and location list
- Click markers - Open popups with location details
- Get directions - Navigate to locations via Google Maps
- Pan and zoom - Navigate the map interface
- Search - Find specific locations within the map
- Filter by category - Toggle category visibility
