Understanding Your Dashboard

Your dashboard is your analytics command center where you can view detailed statistics about your maps, track performance, and manage your content. Let's explore what everything does and how to use it effectively.

Accessing Your Dashboard

To access your dashboard, you need to be logged in. Navigate to /dashboard from the main navigation menu.

Dashboard Overview

The dashboard displays comprehensive analytics for all your maps, giving you insights into:

  • Total views across all your maps
  • View trends over time
  • Top performing maps by views and shares
  • Share statistics by platform

Analytics Dashboard

The main analytics dashboard shows:

Quick Stats

  • Total map views across all your public maps
  • View trends with date range filtering
  • Share counts by platform (Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Email, Direct Link)

Date Range Filtering

  • Filter analytics by date range (default: last 30 days)
  • View historical data to track growth
  • Compare performance across different time periods

Top Maps Widget

  • See your top 5 maps by views
  • Sorted by view count, then share count
  • Quick access to popular content

View Trends Chart

  • Visual representation of daily view counts
  • Track growth and engagement over time
  • Identify traffic patterns

Managing Your Maps

While the dashboard focuses on analytics, you can manage your maps throughout the application:

From the Explore Page

If logged in, you'll see your maps with quick actions:

  • Edit - Open the map editor
  • Share - Get share links and embed codes
  • Clone - Duplicate the entire map
  • Delete - Remove permanently

From Individual Map Pages

When viewing your own maps:

  • Click the edit icon to modify map details
  • Use the share button for sharing options
  • View map-specific analytics
  • Access embed code generator

Map Analytics

For detailed analytics on a specific map, navigate to that map's page. You'll see:

View Metrics

  • Total views (unique viewers based on IP/user ID)
  • View rate limiting: 1 view per IP/user per 24 hours
  • User agent tracking for visitor insights
  • Privacy-compliant IP hashing

Engagement Metrics

  • Total likes (both authenticated and anonymous)
  • Anonymous likes are IP-based
  • Users can like/unlike at any time

Share Metrics

  • Total share count
  • Breakdown by platform:
    • Facebook shares
    • Twitter shares
    • WhatsApp shares
    • Email shares
    • Direct link shares
    • Copy link actions

Viewing Trends

  • Daily view counts
  • Date range filtering
  • Historical performance data

Creating New Maps

You can create maps from multiple places:

From the Homepage

  • Use the AI Map Creator to generate maps with AI
  • Click "Create Map" to start manually

From the Map List

  • If viewing your maps, look for a "Create Map" button
  • Start building immediately

Understanding Your Content

Public vs Private Maps

Public Maps:

  • Visible on the Explore page
  • Appear in search results
  • Can be shared and embedded
  • Contribute to your public profile

Private Maps:

  • Only you can see them (when logged in)
  • Shareable via temporary access tokens (24-hour expiration)
  • Won't appear in Explore or search
  • Not embeddable

Map Locations

Each map can have unlimited locations with:

  • Name and description
  • Coordinates (latitude/longitude)
  • Category assignment
  • Images (via Cloudinary)
  • Visibility control (hide/show)
  • Custom ordering

Categories

Organize your locations with categories:

  • Custom names
  • Color coding for visual distinction
  • Assign multiple locations to each category
  • Filter locations by category on the map

Account Settings

Access your profile settings to manage:

Profile Information

  • Display name
  • Username (for your public profile URL: /u/yourname)
  • Email address
  • Password

Username Requirements

  • Minimum 4 characters
  • Alphanumeric characters plus underscore and hyphen
  • Must be unique across all users

Anonymous User Dashboard

If you've been creating maps without logging in:

  • Maps are saved and you can edit them from your browser
  • Your browser remembers which maps you created
  • Maps expire after 30 days of inactivity
  • When you sign up, all your anonymous maps are automatically claimed!

AI Usage Tracking

If you're using AI features, you can track your usage:

Logged-in Users:

  • 50 AI prompts per day
  • Usage resets at midnight UTC
  • See remaining prompts in AI generator

Anonymous Users:

  • 10 AI prompts total (lifetime, IP-based)
  • No daily reset for anonymous users
  • Sign up for more AI generations

Manage your subscription tier:

Free Tier:

  • 50 AI tokens per day
  • Up to 10 maps
  • Basic analytics
  • Standard embeds
  • Community support

Pro Tier:

  • 1,000 AI tokens per day
  • Unlimited maps
  • Advanced analytics dashboard
  • White-label embeds (no branding)
  • Priority support

Mobile Experience
